A Literal Century Video

SINGLE ARTWORK

A Literal Century explores a new soundscape for us. We wanted to create something more atmospheric and wide sounding. Something with nods to shoegaze and post-punk, like putting 'The Men', 'Dinosaur Jr' and 'My Bloody Valentine' in the same room. I really like how the track came out. It feels like there's a lot of head room and we really drenched the guitars in reverb.

The story within the song focuses around the time I helped take hundreds of books to a recycling plant. I thought about all of the information and stories that were falling to the ground and that maybe one day all of the words would be pulped and rearranged to form a new story. There's also a section of overlayed voices, reciting a poem by French writer Victor Hugo to add to the literacy theme and add depth and chaos to the song.
